Electrical Tingles: Neuromodulation for the General Practitioner
Age-related hearing loss, a long ignored condition of later life, has recently been identified as a potentially modifiable risk factor for cognitive decline and dementia. Evidence for this association will be discussed as well as recent findings that even minimal levels of hearing loss may be contributory. This presentation will discuss the causes, prevalence, and treatment of age-related hearing loss. Which comes first? Does one lead directly to the other? Are there confounding factors? The presentation will explore the proposed mechanisms relating age-related hearing loss to cognition.
